Cub Scouting is a journey of discovery, growth, and fun, designed to help youth develop essential life skills while exploring the outdoors, working together, and learning new things. Each den level builds on the last, guiding Scouts through age-appropriate challenges and activities that teach independence, leadership, and responsibility—all while having a blast!
From the playful beginnings of Lion Scouts to the final bridge of Arrow of Light, every year brings new adventures, friendships, and achievements. Along the way, Cub Scouts:

LION
KINDERGARTEN
Welcome to the adventure! Lions are just getting started in Scouting with fun, hands-on activities that introduce them to teamwork, nature, and basic skills—all with a focus on family participation.

- Exploring the outdoors through play

- Learning through stories, games, and activities
Looking ahead: Before they know it, they’ll be Tigers, ready for more hands-on fun!
TIGER
FIRST GRADE
Adventure Awaits! Tigers take their first big steps in Cub Scouting with exciting activities that build confidence, curiosity, and outdoor skills—all while having fun with their families.

- Hands-on outdoor adventures with family and friends
- Learning teamwork, safety, and respect for nature
- Short-term projects that introduce leadership and responsibility
Looking ahead: After Tigers, the adventure continues as they become Wolves, ready to take on bigger challenges!
WOLF
SECOND GRADE
Growing Stronger! Wolf Scouts dive deeper into the adventure, building independence and teamwork through exciting outdoor experiences, hands-on projects, and skill-building challenges.

- Expanding outdoor and survival skills
- Learning first aid, fitness, and personal responsibility
- Working together to earn adventure loops and badges
Looking ahead: After conquering Wolf, they’ll be ready to tackle Bear adventures with even more skills and challenges!
BEAR
THIRD GRADE
Ready to take on bigger challenges! Bear Scouts build confidence and independence as they tackle new skills and outdoor adventures. With hands-on learning, they explore responsibility, problem-solving, and teamwork.

- Learning new skills like whittling, cooking, and navigation
- Taking on bigger outdoor adventures and challenges
- Practicing responsibility, independence, and teamwork
Looking ahead: After mastering Bear, they’ll be ready to take their leadership and skills to the next level in Webelos!
WEBELOS
FOURTH GRADE
Becoming a leader! Webelos Scouts begin their transition from Cub Scouting to Scouts BSA, taking on greater responsibilities, learning advanced outdoor skills, and growing as leaders.

- Developing independence and leadership skills
- Taking on more challenging outdoor adventures
- Learning key skills to prepare for Scouts BSA
Looking ahead: After Webelos, Scouts will take their final step in Cub Scouting—Arrow of Light, the bridge to Scouts BSA!
ARROW OF LIGHT
FIFTH GRADE
The final step before Scouts BSA! Arrow of Light is the highest rank in Cub Scouting, giving Scouts the skills, confidence, and leadership experience to succeed as they prepare for their next adventure.

- Mastering outdoor, teamwork, and leadership skills
- Serving as role models for younger Scouts
- Preparing for the transition to Scouts BSA
Looking ahead: Arrow of Light Scouts will soon cross the bridge to Scouts BSA, where even bigger adventures await!
