The Path to Adventure
Cub Scouting is all about learning by doing, growing in character, and having fun along the way. Every year, Scouts work through a structured yet exciting program designed to challenge them at an age-appropriate level.
- Complete Six Required Adventures
- Choose Two Elective Adventures
- Participate in a Pack Activity & Show Scout Spirit
By the end of the year, Scouts will have developed new skills, explored the outdoors, built strong friendships, and lived out the Scout Oath and Law—all through hands-on adventures!
Adventures Are Unique to Each Rank
Every Cub Scout rank has its own set of adventures, designed specifically for that age group. While the themes stay consistent—outdoors, fitness, citizenship, safety, teamwork, and Scouting traditions—the way they’re taught evolves as Scouts grow.

The Core of Every Rank
Each required adventure focuses on a key part of Scouting, giving Scouts a solid foundation of skills that grow with them:
Scout Skills & Traditions

- Scouting is built on values that guide Scouts throughout life.
- Every year, they reaffirm the Scout Oath, Law, and traditions, deepening their understanding of honor, respect, and service.
Outdoors & Exploration

- Scouting is about getting outside, discovering nature, and learning to respect it.
- From a Lion’s first outdoor experience to an Arrow of Light scout leading a hike, each rank builds on outdoor skills, navigation, and survival basics.
Fitness & Staying Active

- Scouts learn that taking care of their bodies is part of being prepared.
- Every rank focuses on healthy habits, coordination, and physical activity, encouraging lifelong wellness and confidence.
Citizenship & Community

- Scouts learn what it means to be part of a team, a family, and a community.
- They explore topics like responsibility, respect, leadership, and service, growing into helpful, engaged citizens.
Safety & Preparedness

- Scouting teaches smart decision-making, from basic safety skills to emergency readiness.
- Scouts learn to assess risks, help others, and handle situations responsibly.
Teamwork & Leadership

- Scouting teaches respect for family, faith, and helping others.

Making It Their Own
Beyond the required adventures, Scouts choose two electives that match their interests. Whether it’s STEM, outdoor skills, art, sports, or technology, electives keep the program flexible and fun, allowing Scouts to explore what excites them most.
