Pack Kickoff: Bobcat welcome + outdoor games
Kick off the new Cub Scout year! Scouts will work on their Bobcat badge and enjoy outdoor games with the whole pack. Wear your uniform and bring a water bottle.

2025-09-03 – Lion (K) – Bobcat Kickoff Night
What We’re Doing
Welcome to Lion (K)! Tonight we launch our Bobcat Adventure (the first required step for your rank). We’ll learn the Scout Oath and Law, practice the Cub Scout sign/salute/handshake, and set our den’s Code of Conduct.
Requirements Covered
- Get to know members of your den.
- Recite the Scout Oath (and hear the Scout Law).
- Learn and practice sign, salute, and handshake.
- Create a den Code of Conduct.
- Share a time you did your best.
Materials
- U.S. flag (or image), poster/whiteboard + marker for Code of Conduct.
- Optional: paper and crayons/markers for Den Name brainstorm.
Opening (2 min)
Pledge of Allegiance. Repeat-after-me Scout Oath and Scout Law.
Main Activity (25–30 min)
- Introductions + “something about me”.
- Pick a den name. Start a simple Code of Conduct (3–5 positive rules).
- Practice sign/salute/handshake and the quiet sign.
Second Activity (10 min)
Quick game (Balloon Stomp or name game).
Closing (2 min)
“Rose, Bud, Thorn” reflection. Hand out take-home sheet for the Child Abuse Prevention booklet.
At-Home Track
With a parent/guardian: complete the booklet “How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide” and review the Scout Oath and Law together.
